THE HEART BEHIND HOUSE OF
QUEENIE
Stephanie, lovingly known as “Queenie,” first fell in love with the Shih-Tzu breed after learning of their devoted temperament, loyal nature, and rich history as treasured companions. What began as admiration soon became something far deeper — a calling.
After hearing of a local breeder with puppies available, Stephanie and her sister Cheryl made a visit that would quietly change the course of their lives. There, among the litter, was a tiny liver party-colored puppy who instantly captured Stephanie’s heart. Though it became evident that the breeding conditions were not what she had envisioned or hoped for, there was no leaving that sweet soul behind.
That precious puppy was named Fancy Pants — and she became the center of Stephanie’s world.
Not long after, Fancy welcomed a sister, Prissy Britches, into the family. The two were inseparable and delightfully opposite. Fancy carried herself like a proper little lady — as if walking in invisible high heels — avoiding dirt at all costs. Prissy, on the other hand, delighted in adventure and never met a patch of mud she didn’t love. Together, they created a joyful little home filled with laughter, personality, and unconditional love.
“From heartbreak came purpose.
From loss came legacy.
And from one beloved companion, a House was born.”
But joy was soon met with heartbreak.
Fancy was diagnosed with Megaesophagus, a genetic condition that made it nearly impossible for her to eat or drink without aspirating. What followed were months of devoted care — specialized feeding positions, medications, countless veterinary visits, and fervent prayer. Despite every effort, the time came when the most loving decision was also the most painful one. Stephanie had to say goodbye to her first heart dog.
Fancy’s loss left a permanent imprint — and a deep conviction.
Through that season of grief, Stephanie learned that Fancy’s condition was the result of irresponsible breeding practices. In that realization, a mission was born. No family should have to endure the preventable loss of a beloved companion. What began in sorrow transformed into stewardship.
Stephanie often reflects on the truth of Romans 8:28 — that the Lord works all things together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. What once felt like devastating loss became the very foundation of House of Queenie.
Stephanie committed herself to learning everything she could about ethical, responsible breeding — health testing, genetics, temperament, structure, and preservation of the breed’s integrity. She and Cheryl prayerfully dreamed of building something different. Something rooted in faith, transparency, excellence, and love.
In 2018, the Lord led Stephanie to a remarkable breeder who would become both mentor and friend. Through that divinely orchestrated relationship, she welcomed her first stud, Spanky Beau, along with three beautiful girls — Darla, Sugar, and Mocha. Affectionately known as the “Founding Four,” these cherished dogs became the foundation of what would soon grow into something far greater than imagined.
In 2022, Queenie’s Shih-Tzus was officially born.
Spanky and Darla welcomed the very first litter — lovingly nicknamed the “Little Rascals.” What started as a small, faith-led family endeavor has since grown into a thriving community of devoted Queenie families across the country.
“Built on faith.
Rooted in family.
Raised with intention.”
Today, House of Queenie stands as more than a breeding program. It is a promise — to restore integrity to the breed, to raise puppies in a nurturing, family-centered environment, and to steward each life with intention and care.
Every puppy is raised in love, covered in prayer, and placed thoughtfully into homes where they will be treasured — not simply owned, but deeply cherished as family.
From one little girl named Fancy Pants came a calling.
From that calling came a House.
And within that House, love lives on.
Thank you for becoming part of our story — and for trusting us to help you welcome your perfect Queenie companion.
